Castlefield Gallery

Founded in 1984, Castlefield Gallery is a public contemporary art gallery and organisation committed to supporting artists and their work, based just off Deansgate.

It hosts a range of curated exhibitions and is widely-recognised for its work, having supported a number of Turner Prize nominees and international exhibitors. The gallery is free to attend and open to all.

Castlefield Gallery envisions the North as a place where artists can live and engage with their work together. In 2012 Castlefield Gallery launched New Art Spaces to ensure supportive environments are available for emerging creatives and has a membership scheme for artists. Associated artists include Lisa Watts, Rob Lye and more.

Exhibitions have included the likes of the experimental and innovative ‘AND A 123’ and ‘… in dark times’, and demonstrations from artists including Annie Carpenter with ‘Central Engine’. The gallery has collaborated with other creative projects including The Manchester Contemporary Performance Programme.

Castlefield Gallery has strong ongoing relationships with local institutions including Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford, as well as wider national organisations.
