Chorlton Bookshop

Established in 1983, family-run Chorlton Bookshop is situated in South West Manchester. This long-standing literature haven was recently listed by Time Out magazine as one of the top five independent bookshops in Manchester.

In addition to stocking a plentiful range of novels, non-fiction and classical books, they also offer a next-day delivery service for books that are not already in the shop. Complimentary gift wrapping along with a wonderful variety of greeting cards, stamps, book tokens and toys make this shop the perfect destination when you’re on the gift hunt. The shop also has a cosy children’s section, equipped with comfy chairs and soft toys.

This traditional bookshop has been praised for its friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, and even survived the threat of closure in 2014 following a successful petition by book fanatics and Chorlton residents. A ‘For Reading Addicts’ blogger wrote: “Chorlton Bookshop is not too big to drown in and yet there is sufficient room for the customer to move around in and discover new treasures.”
