HOME
A brand new centre for international contemporary art, theatre and film, HOME boasts filmmaker Danny Boyle, poet and novelist Jackie Kay and artist Phil Collins among its patrons.
HOME came into existence through a merger of two Manchester arts organisations, The Library Theatre Company and Cornerhouse, and is funded by Manchester City Council, Arts Council England and the Garfield Weston Foundation.
The building is a key part of the vision for a creative quarter of the city and houses two live performance rooms: a theatre that seats 500 people and a 150-seat studio space designed for “thought-provoking and experimental performance”. Other facilities on offer include five cinema screens, a gallery space for contemporary art, a cafe-bar and a restaurant.
HOME commissions, produces and presents a programme of contemporary theatre, film and visual art, with an emphasis on innovative visual storytelling and cross-artform collaboration. Director Dave Moutrey has pledged a commitment to new talent, offering support for emerging and mid-career creatives. There’s also an emphasis on making art affordable. Most of HOME’s theatre shows have tickets priced at just £10.
