Manchester Literature Festival

Manchester Literature Festival was born back in 2006, and it grew out of its successful predecessor the Manchester Poetry Festival. The Festival always runs in October and the 2018 Festival will run from 6th-21st October.

The festival consists of a range of events featuring some of the most established authors and poets in the UK and beyond. They also commission new work and provide new opportunities for writers to experiment with media in both the production and presentation of their writing.

Writers that have appeared at the Manchester Literature Festival include Margaret Atwood, Seamus Heaney, Armistead Maupin, Arundhati Roy, Zadie Smith and Jeanette Winterson. The Festival also has a programme that runs throughout the year. To find out more about the festival, please visit their whats-on-guide here.

With walking tours aplenty and an interesting variety of venues, this festival makes use of the urban environment to marry words with place and mark itself out from the myriad literary events that have sprung up in recent years.’ – The Guardian Guide
