Manchester Muslim Writers

A writing group and organisation dedicated to encouraging writers of Muslim origin in their creative work, with monthly meetings at the Edge Theatre and Arts Centre in Chorlton.

They are one of the only dedicated Muslim writing groups in the UK.

Launched in 2009, Manchester Muslim Writers has held its meetings at various other locations over time including Shakespeare House on the boundary of Whalley Range and Fallowfield and Chorlton Library. The group moved to the Edge Theatre and Arts Centre in 2017.

Manchester Muslim Writers are encouraging of new and emerging writers in various genres. In 2017 the Young Manchester Muslim Writers was also established as a group and is aimed at primary school children in particular.

Manchester Muslim Writers have welcomed authors and hosted events including visits from writers Akhtar Hussain and Salman Al-Azami. They also have plans for launching an anthology of British Muslim Writing.
