Aspidistra Books
A retailer and literary events company, specialising in books on politics, history, art, fiction and LGBT themes – with the motto ‘find a book, lose yourself.’
The name ‘aspidistra’ can be linked to George Orwell’s 1936 book Keep the Aspidistra Flying – a novel of social criticism in which the ‘aspidistra’ houseplant symbolises the stagnation of middle class life.
Aspidistra Books has arranged a number of literary events including reading sessions, a non-fiction book club and interviews. An online shop is due to launch.
